Meet the medical professionals who are ready to serve you at Lynchburg Pulmonary:

pic-7Michael G. Milam, MD

Dr. Milam trained at the Medical College of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University and the Medical University of South Carolina before coming to Lynchburg in 1988. He serves as Centra’s medical director for sleep disorders and is past president of the Virginia Thoracic Society. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary diseases, sleep medicine and critical care and is experienced in clinical research. He is the Medical Director of the Sleep Disorders Center at Centra and the Medical Director of the Respiratory Therapy Department at Central Virginia Community College.

 

pic-10Albert M. Baker, MD

Dr. Baker earned a degree in chemistry from the University of Virginia before graduating from medical school there in 1989. He completed a residency in internal medicine with a primary care focus at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond and then a fellowship in pulmonary diseases and critical care at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, and critical care, he has practiced in Lynchburg, Virginia since 1995. A Certified Physician Executive, he has served on the board of directors of Centra since 2001 and chairs its patient care committee. He serves as Centra’s Medical Director for Critical Care. He is an experienced clinical trialist in the fields of asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, pneumonia, and thromboembolic disease.

 

pic-6Joseph B. Khoury, MD

Dr. Khoury joined Lynchburg Pulmonary Associates in 2000 after completing a fellowship in Pulmonary Diseases, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at Duke University. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary diseases, and critical care. He is the first physician to serve our area as a board certified specialist in Sleep Medicine and he has a particular interest in sleep disorders. He serves as the medical director of pharmacy and therapeutics for Centra.

John F. Plankeel, MD

Dr. Plankeel joined Lynchburg Pulmonary Associates in 2003 after completing residency and fellowship training in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at Duke University Medical Center. He maintains board certification in internal medicine, pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine. He specializes in all aspects of pulmonary and sleep disorders. Dr. Plankeel has a particular interest in caring for patients with pulmonary hypertension and runs a weekly clinic focusing on the evaluation and treatment of patients with this complex condition.

 

pic-5Jeremy L. Hardison, MD

Dr. Hardison joined Lynchburg Pulmonary Associates in 2006 after completing a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Duke University. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine. Dr. Hardison is Centra’s medical director or Respiratory Therapy and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. He is a full-time critical care physician with special interest in neurocritcal care and is the medical director of the Neurointensive Care Unit at Lynchburg General Hospital.

 


pic-9Sarah C. Hellewell, MD

Dr. Hellewell joined Lynchburg Pulmonary Associates, Inc. in 2006 after completion of a Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care as well as Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Hellewell is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care medicine. She currently works on a part-time basis in the Medical and Surgical Intensive Care Units at Lynchburg General Hospital, concentrating on inpatient Critical Care medicine.

Dr. Prema Pamireddy graduated from Siddhartha Medical College in India. She has Joined Lynchburg pulmonary group after completing her residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Pulmonary Diseases from Howard university Hospital in Washington DC. She is board certified in Internal Medicine. She enjoys all aspects of pulmonary care.

 

 

 

Catherine L. Williams, MSN, FNPpic-1

Catherine joined Lynchburg Pulmonary Associates in 2011. She completed Duke University’s Family Nurse Practitioner program in 2010. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Lynchburg College in 1986 and Master’s degree in Nursing from Liberty University in 2008. She is certified in Adult Critical Care Nursing and has over twenty five years bedside nursing experience. She serves as Study Coordinator for Clinical drug trials. Special interests include nursing research, critical care nursing and smoking cessation.

Jennifer H.Tice, MSN, FNP

Jennifer joined Lynchburg Pulmonary Associates in 2012 after completing a Master of Science at Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a board certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She worked as a Registered Nurse in the Neurological Intensive Care Unit at Lynchburg General Hospital for seven years before completing her Master’s degree. She also holds special certifications as a Critical Care and Neuroscience Registered Nurse. She works in the pulmonary and sleep clinics and also rounds on pulmonary and critical care patients at Lynchburg General Hospital. She has a special interest in pulmonary, neurosciences, and critical care.


Lee C. Hughes, MSN, ACNP-BC        

Lee is a native of Lynchburg and joined LPA in 2015 after returning to the area from Southwest Virginia where she worked in Vascular Surgery for several years. She is a board certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, receiving her degree from Drexel University in 2011. She completed her undergraduate work at Lynchburg College in 2004 and has spent most of her career in cardiovascular medicine. In 2006, she completed her Adult Critical Care Nursing certification and in 2007 received specialty certification in Cardiac Surgery. She is excited to expand her practice and to be a part of LPA’s Sleep Disorder Clinic. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society, Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners and American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Lee also has specials interests in the areas of Critical Care medicine and ongoing clinical research in pulmonary medicine.


Jordan Watkins, PA-C

Jordan joined Lynchburg Pulmonary Associates in 2015. He completed his Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Shenandoah University in 2011 and his Bachelor’s from Liberty University in 2004. Prior to his Physician Assistant training he worked with the local cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation team as an exercise physiologist and tobacco cessation specialist. Special interests include critical care and smoking cessation.

 

 

 

Erin Snelick, RN-BC, MSN, CCRN, AGPCNP-BC

Erin joined Lynchburg Pulmonary Associates in 2016, after completion of her Masters of Science in Nursing as an Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner from South University. She previously worked as a critical care nurse for five years in the Cardio Thoracic Intensive Care Unit at Lynchburg General Hospital. Erin is also board certified in cardiac vascular and critical care nursing. She completed her undergraduate studies at the Lynchburg General Hospital (LGH) School of Nursing and Liberty University, where she obtained her nursing diploma and Bachelor of Science in nursing.  Her special interests include COPD, critical care, and nutrition.
